The
Valley and East Coast Voice covers a period of 50
years and is a snapshot of community history, the
last edition rolling off the press on the 14th
December 2017.
The archive is stored at the St Helens History Room located at 61 Cecilia Street, St Helens, Tasmania 7216. Members of the Break O’Day public are welcome to access the collection during the centre’s opening hours. The Valley Voice Collection (1968 – 2017) was donated to the St Helens History Room by the former Valley Voice committee who were based at St Marys (2017). The original printed documents were scanned by volunteers of the St Helens History Room (2020 – 2021) and the archive is an almost complete snapshot of the Valley Voice (1968 – 2017). In 2018 the Valley Voice was re-established as a community newspaper by the Fingal Neighbourhood House and is still in production as of June 2023. This digital archive was compiled in 2023 by Glyn Johnson and Peter Bell, St Marys. The project team who have worked on this archive would like to acknowledge past members of the Valley Voice committee and members of the St Marys community who volunteered on the paper’s production throughout that period. |
